A four year old girl, addicted to iPad, is the youngest patient Addiction Services Technology in the Capio Nightingale clinic, the center that is becoming popular in London for their programs "technological detox" in children and adults.
The clinic did not reveal the name of the patient, who lives with his parents in southeast England. Dr. Richard Graham recognizes that this is a case of extreme addiction that has required psychiatric treatment , but warns that there may be "much addicted undiagnosed at the same age" and encourages parents strict control the use of tablets and smartphones.
"In the case in question, the desperate mother called me saying her daughter had developed an obsession with the iPad and constantly asks," says Dr. Graham to 'Daily Mail'. "He came to use three or four hours a day, and each time was more inconsolable and agitated when I took off."
Userswith 20 profiles on Facebook
Dr. Graham recommended to parents that the child be referred to the program of 'digital detox' devised for patients of so-called Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD), including cases found people engaged for 36 hours straight network or users "unfolded" who came to maintain up to 20 simultaneous Facebook profiles.
"I told the parents that if the child did not receive immediate help to treat addiction, would have to enter a clinic at age eleven, if not before," said Graham. London psychiatrist supports a worrying rise in cases children since the Marylebone clinic privadísima released his rehabilitation program last summer tecnoadictos (19,000 euros a month for treatment).
According to a recent survey, more than half of British parents spoil their children under three use tablets and smartphones. One in seven admits even your children spend over four hours playing with them. The adults are not far behind: on average They check the 'smartphone' every six minutes. One in four admits to spend more time 'on line' to sleep.
"Do not let the iPad to anyone, anytime" , says Dr. Grant to parents and children. "Powerful colors act as claims and kids will want to wear them at all hours. If they react with uncontrollable tantrums and become without them, it is likely that they are developing an addiction.""The iPad is killing toys," concludes the author and child development specialist Tanith Carey. "The brains of children are being reprogrammed from an early age to receive instant gratification, which is what gives them at all hours of the screen."
